Chrome for Android Shows Best Results in Speedometer Browser Test

After several optimizations and improvements, the browser performance increased by 60-80%
Earlier this year, desktop Google Chrome showed outstanding results in the Speedometer 3 benchmark. Now, Google’s browser has doubled its score on the Android platform. In a blog post, the search giant detailed the key improvements that helped Chrome achieve such results on many Android devices.
Google claims that Chrome on devices with Snapdragon 8 Elite processors has set new performance records in Speedometer. The company disclosed three key changes, including improvements to the V8 and Blink engines, as well as optimizations to the browser’s interaction with the mobile operating system and chipset.
Last year, Google released a separate build of Chrome M113 with higher performance to achieve maximum scores on flagship devices. The build included several optimizations that Google couldn’t enable previously because they resulted in larger binaries, which wasn’t ideal for entry-level devices. These optimizations account for more than half of the overall improvements. Google also worked with Qualcomm to further optimize the browser’s performance, achieving 60-80% speed gains on devices with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset.
Google says that a high Speedometer score directly translates into real-world usage scenarios, including faster page loading times. For example, loading a Google Docs document takes 50% longer in Chrome M112 than on the latest version of the browser.
